We provide responsible tree care, with concern for the 'oikos' (Greek for 'home') in every aspect of our work. An ecological approach means being environmentally friendly, but it also means caring for our economic resources and the people whose lives we touch.
This is a journey, but here are some ways we are already being true to this vision:
1) We strive to be energy efficient, using battery-powered and hybrid-electric equipment charged by solar and other renewable energy sources to the maximum extent possible. This is a quieter and safer way to work, allowing us to communicate more easily on the job. It also minimizes noise and chemical pollutants on and off your property. It might cost us more initially, but advanced technology ultimately saves us both time and money.
2) We lubricate our chainsaw bars and chains with biodegradable and renewable canola oil. Studies have shown this is not only better for your property and for our petroleum reserves but it also improves the respiratory and skin health of people like us who work around chainsaws every day.
3) We are fully insured. This is not easy to do in today's economy. Not only do we have current general liability insurance, but we also provide workman's compensation insurance for all of our employees. This costs an additional 50 cents for every dollar we pay our workers, and in additional we pay all payroll taxes, unemployment insurance, and other legally required fees. This is not easy, and many of our competitors choose to not protect their employees in this way; but with the inherent dangers in tree work, protecting our customers and our workers is the right thing to do. We hope you agree.
4) We have a zero landfill policy for all biological materials. Wood has ~1/4 the energy potential that crude oil has. It is senseless and irresponsible to put any of this material in a landfill. Most tree service companies today pay to dispose of all tree parts removed from your property in local landfills. We always salvage as much wood as possible from each job and process it for lumber. Compared to other tree services, we chip a minimal amount of wood and compost all wood chips removed from your property to produce topsoil. Finally, we use the minimal amount of remaining waste to produce heat in local homes.
5) We have an open source attitude toward problem solving in our work. We share our design and equipment solutions with all who inquire, including competitors, to encourage rapid adoption of best practices and the development of better solutions across the industry.
We are a new company. Check back often for developments and pictures!
Current services include risk assessment, pruning, removals, clean up, and more. They are your trees. Let us help you live better with them.
